The Indianola City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance change at their most recent meeting regarding driveway standards. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News Indianola was one of the few communities in the area without driveway standards.

“Driveway standards are meant to share with the community on how wide a driveway can be, how many access points on a piece of property a property can have, things like that. Driveways do so much more than just serve a property, they can be significant safety hazards.”

All existing driveways will not be affected by the ordinance change as they are grandfathered in, the ordinance applies to new driveways and remodels.
