To commemorate the completion of Knoxville’s new mural, city staff will host a celebration downtown today. City Manager Heather Ussery encourages residents to come out to enjoy what downtown has to offer, with an opportunity to speak with the artist.

“Now that we’ve won the contest and the mural is complete, the city thought it was important to thank everyone that took the time to vote. It’s because of them that we have this mural. The Iowa Economic Development Authority and Ben Schuh, the artist, will be here. Businesses downtown will be open late, the Lucas Beebe band will be playing, we’ll have food vendors. It will be a great time.”

Knoxville won the mural by receiving the most votes in an online contest during the summer. The celebration will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the downtown square and surrounding area.
