The 10th-ranked Central College football team hosts Loras today at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.
The Dutch are 6-0 on the season and tied for first place in the American Rivers Conference with Dubuque at 4-0. Meanwhile, Loras is 3-4 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Central continues to be one of the top rated offenses in the country, averaging a nation’s best 612.7 yards per game and a second-in-the-country 56.7 points per game. The Duhawks strength is their pass defense, where they allow under 187 yards per game. Central coach Jeff McMartin says that his club will have their hands full today.
“We have to do a good job protecting Blaine (Hawkins) and giving him time to throw. If we do that, we’re at least halfway home at that point. The other thing is that we have to take what they give us and not force things or get greedy. There’s going to be something available if you’re patient and if you’re looking for it.’
Kickoff today is at 1:00 at The Schip. Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame at 12:35. Audio commentary will also be available with video at CentralDutchNetwork.com.
