Beggars Nights and other Halloween events will soon be taking place, starting today in Knoxville. Police Chief Aaron Fuller reminds parents to be mindful of the candy children receive, and to make sure it is safe.

“It’s not something we need to worry too much about. But at the same time, we should probably be looking at our children’s candy. Anything that’s not professionally wrapped, anything that isn’t wrapped at all, you probably shouldn’t eat. We don’t need loose candy out there floating around, we need to make sure it’s good and safe.”

Knoxville’s first Halloween event of the season is today, as the Knoxville Optimist Club will host “Treats in the Park” at Auld Park. Parents are invited to bring their children dressed in their costumes to receive treats from Knoxville organizations. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on site to play music.
