The Simpson football team fell behind 27-0 just six seconds into the second quarter and couldn’t recover as they fell to the Beavers of Buena Vista 50-19 at Buxton Stadium on Saturday as heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Storm gained -2 yards of offense in the first quarter as BV built their lead, and would eventually find paydirt on a Hunter Ogle 4-yard score in the second quarter. Ogle would find the endzone once more in the second quarter, but it wouldn’t draw the storm any closer as the Beavers scored another touchdown and field goal to lead 37-13 at the halftime break. Simpson would score another second half score on a Brett Bobinet rushing score, but the game was well out of contention.
Head coach Matt Jeter said the Storm just got beat in all facets by the Beavers.

“You give up that many points its tough to win the game, as we aren’t outscoring anybody. My thing on that is we have to play better, do a better job of not giving up explosive plays, do a better job of stopping the run, getting out of situations too. If the offense is having a bad day, the defense can’t. We can’t all have a bad day, and all three units were not very good today.”

Simpson falls to 1-7 on the season and 1-5 in American Rivers Conference play, and travel to Nebraska Wesleyan next week.
