The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday. They presented Edward Jones with the sponsorship inside the high school gym. The board approved a Panthers vs. Cancer fundraiser, which will be a change from Coaches vs. Cancer. Knoxville Hospital & Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid was at the meeting, and announced a new cancer center on KHC’s campus. Business Manager Craig Mobley says funds raised from this effort will go toward the project.
“As many people know, it’s been Coaches vs. Cancer for years. A little bit of a change with the change in leadership in this fundraiser. We wanted to continue donating to the American Cancer Society, but also taking a portion of the donations and keeping that local. We’re teaming up with the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Foundation. It’s still going toward cancer. A little bit more of a local feel, something tangible where you can actually see it. Hopefully everyone gets behind it just like they always have.”
The board also held a closed session.
The next Knoxville School Board meeting will be November 8th.
