Two familiar foes will clash at Oskaloosa High School tonight with a state tournament spot on the line, as No. 7 Pella travels to take on No. 6 ranked Oskaloosa in the Class 4A regional finals.
The Dutch are seeking an 11th ever state tournament trip and their first since 2018, when a core of four college-bound seniors pushed Pella to a 4th consecutive final eight bid. The seniors of this year’s roster were freshmen, including Bailey Van Voorst and Anna Vander Waal, who saw playing time on that team.
There will be no secrets between the Little Hawkeye Conference co-champions and the reigning league tournament champion Indians and 2020 tournament winning Dutch, as the two teams have met three times this season. Serving Specialist Katie Pollock believes it will simply come down to who has the best night on the floor, with no major surprises expected for either side.
Oskaloosa won both tournament matchups at Southeast Polk in September and just over a week ago in the conference title finals. Pella was able to take the best-of-five matchup 3-1 on September 21st. The Dutch are 15-7 against Oskaloosa in the Varsity Bound/QuikStats era.
First serve for the Pella/Osky regional volleyball final is at 7 p.m.
