Planting of tulip bulbs has started in the City of Pella.

This fall, the City of Pella Parks Department will be planting approximately 130,000 tulip bulbs for bloom in spring 2022, according to director Chandler Nunnikhoven. Each year, city staff and volunteers plant bulbs in over 240 flower beds in parks and alongside streets, which typically takes 4-5 weeks.

Nunnikhoven says this year, tulips are coming in a little later than normal due to a difficult harvest and shipping delays felt across the globe, so staff needed to make some adjustments to bed designs to accommodate what is on hand. Street on October 23rd.
