The Indianola School Board reviewed student enrollment at their meeting Monday evening, and how it could affect the next year’s budget with state aid received per student. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News one of the biggest ways the current board and district staff have been able to be budget conscious is to plan ahead, and to do their best to be prepared for the unknown.

“We look at if this happens or that happens this is where we’ll be at. But we have to be prepared because there are unknowns every single year. We don’t know what our enrollment will be for sure, and another big piece is we’ll never know what the legislature will decide on state supplemental aid. And then, obviously you don’t know when things like covid will hit, or we get an influx of federal money like we’ve had.”
