As he gets ready for his second State Cross Country Meet, Knoxville’s Seth Walraven will have a small advantage over last year, he has been there and done that. Walraven will not have the wow factor that many first time runners at State get when they get up there. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Seth will be more relaxed which should help him leading up to the event
Splavec: “We won’t have as big of eyes when we walk up to the State Meet, we won’t have the nerves when we get our packet, and set up the tent and walk the course. He knows what it takes to run fast and it’s going to be fun.”
Walraven finished 70th last year at the class 3A State Meet, and his goal is to get into the top 30, which according to Splavec would mean he would have to run a sub 17:00 race, something that Walraven has not done, but Splavec adds he is capable to accomplishing. The 3A boys race is set to start at 3:15 on Friday. Find an interview with Walraven that aired during this week’s Radio Sports Page on kniakrls.com in Today’s Local Sports.
