After a thrilling 14-13 victory over Clarinda last week, PCM will go back on the road as they will square off with the Williamsburg Raiders in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

PCM got the victory over the Clarinda Cardinals thanks to defense and big plays. The Mustangs got 189 yards and a touchdown on the ground from Aiden Anderson. Vandelune threw for 158 yards and a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Eslinger that was the difference in the ball game. Donovan Nickelson had a big night also, accumulating nine tackles, four of them for a loss, and two sacks on the final two Clarinda offensive plays of the game. PCM currently sits at 5-4 on the season with a 3-2 record in Class 2A District 7 play. Coach Greg Bonnett tells KRLS Sports that despite being familiar with Williamsburg, he will be looking out for any new adjustments to their gameplan.

“The way Williamsburg runs their offense as many times as we played them, we prepare for a little bit of everything. Williamsburg has never once showed up to play us and not have some sort of new wrinkle.”

The two teams have squared off three times in their history, all of them coming in the playoffs. Williamsburg has won two of the three matchups. The last time the two teams squared off was in the 2018 state quarterfinal, where PCM won 55-34. That year, PCM went on to win their only state championship.

Pre-game will begin at 6:30 PM and Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch and Jeff Lindsay on the call.
