In the second round of the Class 2A Playoffs, PCM saw their season come to an end as they were shut out by Williamsburg, 35-0, as broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com Friday night.
The Mustangs were ambushed early and often in the first half as they couldn’t get anything going offensively. Quarterback Carson Vandelune was picked off four times in the first half, including three from safety Derek Weisskopf. Williamsburg scored 21 points off of the four turnovers, including two touchdown passes from quarterback Cade Ritchie. The Raiders also ran all over PCM, coming away with 214 rushing yards on 41 carries. PCM had -1 yard of offense in the first half and finished with 42 total yards in the game. The Mustangs also failed to get a first down until the fourth quarter.
Aiden Anderson led the team in rushing as he finished with 13 carries for 25 yards. Vandelune completed two of seven passes for six yards and four interceptions. Griffen Olson and Matt Rosonke both came away with interceptions in the game. In PCM’s lone opportunity to score, Tyler Kuecker had his 42-yard field goal blocked.
PCM finishes the season with a 5-5 overall record and a 3-2 record in Class 2A District 7 play.
