In a season featuring one record-setting performance after another, the Central College football team set a school mark with nine touchdown passes in a 76-13 win over Luther Saturday afternoon as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Fifth year senior quarterback Blaine Hawkins has thrust himself into National Player of the Year contention with four six-touchdown efforts in his last five games.  In three of those games, including Saturday, Hawkins hit that mark by halftime.  He played one series into the third quarter, finishing the day 20-of-27 for 274 yards, and he added his third rushing touchdown of the season.  He also threw a pick six, just his first interception of the year, and has a total of 39 TD passes.

The air raid continued after Hawkins hit the bench, as freshman backup Brady Ketchum was 12-of-17 for 150 yards and three touchdowns.  Thirteen different Central players caught passes and seven players found the end zone.

The Dutch are 8-0 overall and 6-0 in American Rivers Conference play, two games clear of a quartet of teams all sitting at 4-2 with two games to play.  Central can clinch an outright league title with a victory this coming Saturday in the regular season home finale against Dubuque.
