The Pella Christian Volleyball team saw a change in leadership this season, as Tammi Wight took over the reins of the program. In her first season as the Eagles Head Coach, Wight helped the team improve their win total from 18 wins a year ago to 19 wins this season.
The year got off to a rocky start as the Eagles dropped eight of the first 10 matches, six of which came against ranked opponents. After the tough stretch to open the season Pella Christian found their stride as they rattled off 10 wins in their next 16 matches, including two runner up finishes in weekend tournaments. The Eagles duplicated their 5th place finish in the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament from a year ago, and then closed out the regular season by winning the Knoxville Tournament.
Pella Christian dominated their opening match of the Class 2A Regional Tournament against East Marshall, but saw their season come to an end to the top team in the Varsity Bound Power Index Dike-New Hartford in round two.
Freshman Chloe Huisman said that Coach Wight’s mentality helped the Eagles progress throughout the season.
The Eagles finished their season with a 19-20 record and 3-6 conference record.
