The November 2nd election saw slight growth since the 2019 combined city and school elections, the first time the elections were combined after a law was passed by the Iowa Legislature in 2017.

In the At-Large open seat for Indianola City Council in 2019, Heather Hulen won with 1,614 votes out of a total of 3,031. Compared to the At-Large election on Tuesday, where Steve Richardson won with 2,080 votes out of 3,049, a growth of just 18 total votes.

Ward 1 and Ward 3 had 760 votes and 733 votes respectively in 2019, while Ward 2 and Ward 4 had 1,120 and 508 votes this past election.

The Indianola Mayoral race had 3,310 voters this election, compared to 1,484 voters in the special election in March.

Overall, approximately 18% of registered voters came out to the polls county-wide, with previous elections drawing approximately 10% of registered voters.
