A Knoxville man faces theft charges after the report of a stolen vehicle. Early Saturday morning, officers were informed of a stolen Lincoln MKS in the parking lot of the Super 8 motel in Knoxville. Officers obtained a motel room search warrant, arrived and located the vehicle, and spotted a man, identified as 26-year-old Nathan Paul Butler walking from the vehicle to the motel.
Officers found Butler in his motel room, and he allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle, but that it was an acquaintance’s car. He told officers he brought that car to Knoxville so they acquaintance could pick it up.
Along with the stolen vehicle, officers located a Ruger P89 9mm handgun loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, which was reported stolen from the Des Moines Police Department, 10.1 grams of marijuana, a methamphetamine pipe, and other drug paraphernalia. Butler was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.
Butler faces charges of Theft 2nd and 5th degree, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A $6,000 bond was posted, and a preliminary hearing will be held today.
