Twin Cedars Runner Rylee Dunkin was the lone runner for the Sabers on Saturday at the State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge. Running is a lonely sport to begin with, when you have no teammates to run with, but Dunkin says that still was not a reason for her to give up her dreams of another All-State performance. She told KNIA/KRLS Sports she ran against herself and had a goal of running her best time at state.
Dunkin: “I didn’t use that as an excuse, I was competing for time and I told myself to get better and it paid off.”
Dunkin’s 12th place finish on Saturday earned her a third All-State designation. Find an interview with Dunkin at kniakrls.com that aired during this week’s Radio Sports Page Wednesdays at 6:00 and Thursdays at 10:00.
