The Pella Christian Cross Country teams wrapped up a phenomenal fall season a week ago. After a trip to Fort Dodge for the State Meet, the Eagles are hoping that their success will encourage even more growth in the program. The Eagles broke the previous record of 28 runners out for the sports, by having 35 runners among the boys and girls teams. Eagles junior runner Joslyn Terpstra believes that the success of this year will put a spotlight on the program and spark more interest in the sport.
“Getting to State helps the sport to grow, because cross country is a sport that gets forgotten about a lot and so it makes everyone more aware about it and consider coming out for it.”
The Eagles boys finished 5th in Class 1A at the State Meet. Terpstra and Jaclyn Holmes qualified as individuals for the State Meet. Holmes finished 35th and Terpstra was unable to complete the race.
