Three Pella High School swimmers with the NCMP Aquagirls in Newton all earned state meet spots at the district races Saturday in Ankeny as the team placed 2nd overall.
Individual State Qualifiers:
Hannah Nedder: 100 Butterfly
Alexa Heiar: 100 Breast
Maylei Ruggles: 100 Butterfly
Lillie Ray (Newton): 50 Free
Relays:
200 Medley Relay (Maylei Ruggles, Alexa Heiar, Hannah Nedder, Lillie Ray) – pictured above
200 Free Relay (Alexa Heiar, Maggie Garrett, Lillie Ray, Hannah Nedder)
400 Free Relay (Hannah Nedder, Peyton Ray, Lillie Ray, Maylei Ruggles)
Nedder has qualified for state in all four years of her career and Ruggles is a three-time qualifier as a junior. Nedder qualified during the regular season and won the district championship, and is the No. 3 seed heading into the state meet, additionally, all relays are entering the state meet with a top-15 qualifying time and the 400 freestyle relay broke a school record.
