The All-District selections for 8-Man District seven have been announced and Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas were represented this season. Melcher-Dallas Football got two players on the All-District seven. Cole Metz and Anthony Schneider were first team selections. Schneider was second on the team in receiving with 210 yards and three touchdowns. Metz was the Saints heart and soul, gaining 737 total offensive yards and scoring six touchdowns. On the second team, Logan Godfrey, who led the Saints rushing attack with 588 yards and seven touchdowns along with Lucas Harrington, and Carlos Gonzalez. Honorable mention was Scott Johnson and Max Enfield. Coach Pat Ferguson was glad his three seniors got recognized this season and says all three contributed in several ways.
Ferguson: “All three of them were leaders in different ways. Scotty Johnson spent most the last couple of years injured and had an accident. Tony Schneider really took off during his junior and senior year and developed a lot. Cole Metz was definitely the heart and soul of the team, everyone will tell you that, and he just showed up everyday in the weight room and practice.”
The Saints finished 3-6 on the season. Twin Cedars earned four players to the All-District Seven selections. On the 2nd team was Landyn Roland and Nathan Curry at linebacker. Honorable mention was Kasey Clarke and Nathen Newman. Coach Cam Parker tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he was glad to see his guys stick with it even though the scores in most of their games were lopsided.
Parker: “That’s one area I was extremely proud of our guys, unlike last year, we had several guys not show up to practice and had to kick several of them off the team. This year, we knew these guys would show up and not one time did we ever doubt they would give up.”
Parker hopes to have more players as his numbers were very low this season at one time only 13 players on the active roster. He also thinks the juniors this year will come back out and hopefully bring some newer players to the team.
