The Knoxville School Board approved six change orders for the high school HVAC upgrade project at its meeting Monday. Business Manager Craig Mobley says despite the changes, the setback to the school will be minimal.

“The nice thing about it is that KCL Engineering, our partner on this project, stepped up to the plate and admitted they had made some mistakes in the design. They’re coming to the plate and offering $75,000 toward these change orders. The work has been done, we have an HVAC system that’s in the high school and running. We got the change orders approved, and we can move on with the project.”

A member of the construction team explained to the board that due to the initial stages of the project taking place during the midst of COVID-related shutdowns, the team couldn’t be as hands-on as usual, and inaccurate measurements were taken. View details of the project here.
