Numbers were not in favor of the Melcher-Dallas Football Squad this fall. The Saints started the season with 16 players on the roster, and ended with around 13 healthy players. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports that is not enough to be competitive with the upper teams in the district. He adds the returning players will do some recruiting through the hallways of Melcher-Dallas to get more players out for football.

Ferguson: “They’ll do their best to recruit some players who are athletes at Melcher-Dallas and talk to them everyday if need be. We also have others in the school like our athletic director Coach Crozier who emphasizes playing sports, and hopefully we’ll have more guys to work with next August.”

The Saints finished with a 3-6 record and at one time was 3-3 but lost the final three games of the season.
