With three new members joining the Indianola School Board Monday evening, Superintendent Art Sathoff says there will be a transition period for the new board members to get fully up to speed. Sathoff tells KNIA News the district will have ways to help speed up the process.
“Some of the things that are kind of unique, Iowa school finance is different. Just the concepts of spending authority and cash, and all of the different funds, the categorical funds, there is kind of a lot to that so that will be some learning. Sometimes just the process of how things get approved. We have these different committees for board members to gain in depth knowledge in a particular area like finance or human resources or facilities. But those committees are not decision making bodies, the full authority comes with the whole body when there is a quorum of the board there and they make a decision.”
