A trio of seniors playing volleyball in the Tulip City earned All-State recognition from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Pella’s Bailey Van Voorst and Avey Amelse were both Class 4A 2nd team selections in 2021. The duo were honorable mentions on separate teams in 2020 before the former-Pella Christian Eagle Amelse transferred to Pella for her final season.
Van Voorst finished with 348 kills this season — 8th most in Class 4A, and topped 1,000 for her career. Amelse came on as one of the better all-around players by the end of this fall, finishing with 257 kills.
New Tulip Queen and Pella Christian Senior Sarah Gritters earned Class 2A All-State Honorable Mention. Her 371 kills ranked 12th in Class 2A. Gritters was also an Academic All-State honoree.
