With Fred Lorensen still at the helm for PCM’s boys basketball squad, he will continue to implement a defense-first philosophy.

The Mustangs allowed just under 53 points per game overall and just over 49 points per game in Heart of Iowa Conference play in 2020-21. PCM will be bringing numerous athletes into the program, as they will look to fill the voids left by eight seniors who graduated last season. Coach Lorensen tells KRLS Sports that it is important for the team to showcase their athleticism on the defensive side of the ball.

“Just our athleticism part of it. We have some kids that are very good athletes and then we are certainly hoping that our defense is going to be a headliner for us. Trying to stress that, and on offense we will have nights where we will be good and nights where won’t be as good.”

PCM opens the season November 30 on the road against Knoxville.
