The second annual Merry-N-County Christmas light display begins tonight at Marion County Park in Knoxville. The event has grown, with 52 organizations committing to displays, up from 35 last year. Thrive Knoxville member and event co-organizer Tyler Christian says this event is special because of its setting and community support.
“One of the things that makes our event really unique is the historic village. When it’s lit, it’s extremely unique. That’s something a lot of county and state parks don’t have in their lighted displays. Previously they looked at purchasing displays. What makes our event very unique is the creativity and involvement of the community. Not just Knoxville, we have displays being created by organizations from Melcher-Dallas, the Twin Cedars area, Pella, and all over Marion County.”
The display will be open each Friday through Sunday from today to December 19th, as well as December 20th through 23rd. Hours each night are 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with free will admission. Christmas music will air on 95.3 KNIA each night of the event. Children may bring letters to be delivered to the north pole.
