The Pella Christian Boys Basketball team had their season end earlier than they had hoped last year. One factor that hurt the Eagles early in the 2020-2021 season was a new coach trying to implement his system while managing the protocols of COVID-19.
Now with a year under his belt, Head Coach J.D. Boer is excited about what the 2021-2022 season has in store for his squad. The Eagles return seven seniors from last year’s team and all seven were among the team’s top eight scorers. Coach Boer said that the combination of a large number of returning players and a closer to normal offseason have helped the Eagles establish what kind of identity the team will have this year.
“Just trying to be more efficient all around is going to be really important for us. Especially on the offensive end of the floor, I thought last year we struggled establishing that identity and figuring out what we can do to consistently get buckets, because we’ve had guys who have shown they can do it but not at as consistent a level as we want them to be. So we are still working through that a little bit and trying to figure out how to put those pieces together, to be the efficient team that we want to be on both ends of the floor.”
The Pella Christian boys basketball team will kick off season number two under Head Coach J.D. Boer on Tuesday November 30th at Albia. The game can be heard live on the KRLS2 Stream at KNIAKRLS.com.
