The 2021-22 season began with a struggling performance at home for PCM’s girls’ basketball squad as they lost to Chariton, 54-32.

The Mustangs struggled to put any rhythm together on the offensive side of the ball against a Chariton team that is likely to compete for the title in the South Central Conference. Addie Steenhoek led the way in scoring for the Mustangs, putting in 14 points including one three-pointer. Addie’s older sister, Paige, chipped 11 points and had a three-pointer as well. Outside of those two players, the rest of the Mustangs registered just seven total points.

The loss drops PCM to 0-1 on the season. The Mustangs next opponent will be another South Central Conference opponent in Knoxville. That game will be broadcast on 95.3 KNIA Tuesday night at 7:45 PM.
