The Knoxville City Council recently made final approval of building codes related to minimum maintenance, vacant buildings, and fire codes after consideration for the last several meetings. City Manager Heather Ussery says these standards were recommended by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and sets standards to follow.

“Each of these were brought forth by the downtown assessment that was done in May. They were kind of surprised that Knoxville didn’t have these codes on our books, so we went through the process of getting those created.”
