With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the Knoxville Police Department reminds residents of the safety precautions that need to be taken. Chief Aaron Fuller says if people are leaving town and would like an extra set of eyes on their house, they can request extra patrol from the department.

“If you’re going out of town, and you would like the police department to do a vacation watch on your home, all you have to do is give us a call. Give us your address and a phone number in case something is going on. Let us know who should be going in and out if anyone. We’ll then watch your home a couple times a day for you as we’re out on patrol.”

Fuller also says that cases of burglary tend to increase if someone posts on social media that they’ll be gone, and reminds people to prepare for weather conditions as winter nears.
