The Pella School Board is holding their annual organizational meeting Monday.

New Board Member Jesse Peterson will take the oath of office and Board Member Elisa Klahsen and Board President Joan Corbin will officially start their next term.

The board will then move to elect the next board president and vice president, as well as appoint the board secretary and treasurer and designate the official publication and the district’s legal counsel.

A public hearing is scheduled to develop the next academic year calendar, and resolutions on the agenda for consideration include budget requests in various categories. The board will also consider additional early retirement requests and a recommendation for a new Business Manager following the retirement of Mary Bogaard.

Following those action items, the Pella School Board will review the district’s options as it relates to proposed OHSA and Federal Guidance related to COVID-19 vaccines, with recommendations from the Iowa Association of School Boards, the district’s legal counsel, and samples of policies that could be established in accordance with the rules and state law.

The Pella School Board meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Pella High School Library and can also be viewed online.
