The Indianola City Council approved the first reading of a rezoning request on S K St. at their most recent meeting, the first step in clearing more areas of the city for additional housing developments. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the city is working with developers to help build more housing.

“We’ve had a developer looking at about 80 acres of ground along S K St. just south of the existing Deer Creek subdivision. As part of that process, the current ground is zoned A-1 agricultural, so to be able to develop it residentially the council has to approve the rezoning. After going through more of the process through the next several meetings, the developer will eventually get in there and submit a preliminary plan for us to review.”
