The Pella School Board held their annual organizational meeting Monday.
New Board Member Jesse Peterson took the oath of office with re-elected Board Members Elisa Klahsen and Joan Corbin.
The board moved to re-elect Corbin as the next board president. For other action, the board approved a request from district administration to develop the next academic year calendar based on hours, which has happened for most of current Superintendent Greg Ebeling’s time in the district. The board approved four additional early retirement requests and a recommendation for a new Business Manager following the retirement of Mary Bogaard, which was for Katelyn Bierl.
Following those action items, the Pella School Board reviewed the district’s options as it relates to proposed OHSA and Federal Guidance related to COVID-19 vaccines, with recommendations from the Iowa Association of School Boards, the district’s legal counsel, and samples of policies that could be established in accordance with the rules and state law. The board will take further action at future meetings.
