In the Central College women’s triathlon first appearance at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships, junior Lindsey Blommers secured the program’s first All-American honors. Notching a 12th place finish at the meet gave Blommers status as a second-team All-American. She was the top finisher for a Central team that took sixth place in the team standings.

A high school swimmer, Blommers completed the 750-meter swim of the sprint triathlon in 13 minutes and 21 seconds. She followed that up with a time of 40:21 in the 20-kilometer bike and a 23:25 5K run, totaling a time of 1:18.45.7 She was six minutes off the pace of Hailey Poe’s (North Central College [Ill.]) winning time of 1:12.01.5.

As an athletics department, Central has an illustrious history of All-American honorees. Blommers is the 262nd athlete in school history to be named an All-American and Central has now had an All-American in 20 unique sports.
