The Simpson College Community Orchestra will present their fall concert on Sunday, December 5th at the Blank Performing Arts Center, featuring the orchestra’s first performance open to the public since the beginning of the pandemic. Linda Benoit with the orchestra tells KNIA News this concert means more because the lack of live performances is difficult for musicians.
“There is that longing to communicate with each other in that way. As any musician knows, it is very special to be able to play music with other people. You can sit in a room by yourself and practice as much as you want, and that is enjoyable, but that is nothing like playing with somebody else.”
The hour-long concert will feature pieces by Lully, Mendelssohn, Vaughan Williams, and Mozart. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend the performance, which begins at 7pm. Masks are required.
