Former Knoxville Assistant Wrestling Coach Skyler Spaur is now the head coach of the Panthers. Spaur took over after last season when Doug Hatch stepped aside to concentrate on the middle school program. Spaur is a former state qualifier for the Panthers in 2011 finishing 8th at 171 pounds. Spaur is glad Hatch was around to get him ready for his first head coaching job.
Spaur: “I’ve been helping the last few years. Couldn’t tell Hatch how much it is appreciated just showing me the ropes and getting me ready for something I would not have been ready for without him.”
Spaur has a largely young team this season, but a team that has a lot of mat time with three returning district qualifiers from last season. Knoxville’s first dual will be December second against Nevada.
