Central College’s American Rivers Conference women’s basketball opener slated for Wednesday was canceled. Nebraska Wesleyan University officials said the team will be unable to make the trip due to health and safety concerns. By conference rule, the game will be declared a forfeit.

The Central men’s game with Nebraska Wesleyan will take place as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.

The forfeit win leaves the Central women with a 2-4 record and a 1-0 conference mark. The Dutch, who have yet to play a home game, return to action Saturday with a conference game at the University of Dubuque. The Spartans carry a 4-1 record and a 0-1 conference mark into a Wednesday night contest at Buena Vista University.
