Indianola Basketball Squads Host Conference Rival Pella
The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams begin Little Hawkeye Conference rival Pella this evening, putting their unblemished records to start the season on the line. The Indianola boys took down North Polk to begin their season on Monday, using a 29-2 run in the first half to take a lead they would not relinquish, while the Pella boys are also 1-0 with a win over the Comets. Over the last three years, no game between the two squads has been decided by more than 7 points, with three contests going into overtime.
The #2 Indianola girls are 2-0 to begin the season while Pella is 1-1, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports Pella always challenges the Indians, and he expects more of the same tonight.
“We’ll have our hands full, and we are not overlooking Pella by any stretch of the imagination. Pella had our number my first two years here, and we were able to scratch out a couple of wins last year. So we know we’ll have our hands full Friday night.”
The game tonight can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream on KNIAKRLS.com, as well as the Indianola Activities YouTube stream, with Andrew Swadner and Andrew Schneider on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15pm.
