The Indianola wrestling team won the Newton Cardinal Classic tournament Saturday, scoring 222 team points.
The Indians got first place finishes from Bowen Downey at 113lbs, Cael Meacham at 132lbs, Ryder Downey at 145lbs, Bryce Aldridge at 160lbs, Walker Whalen at 195lbs, and Cael Crawford at heavyweight, with second place finishes from Ryan Young at 120lbs and Jaxon Boyd at heavyweight.
The Indians next hit the mats Thursday on the road at Dallas Center-Grimes in Little Hawkeye Conference action.

The Indianola boys swimming team won the Newton Invitational with 359 team points. Max Purvis won the 50 Freestyle, Matt Coffelt won the 100m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley, while Peter Picard won the 100 Butterfly. The Indians also had the fastest times in the 200 Freestyle Relay, 400 Freestyle Relay, and 200 Medley Relay.
