Iowa State Representative Jon Thorup announced following redistricting that he will be seeking re-election to the Iowa Legislature, this time in Senate District 19, which is composed of Jasper County and portions of Marion and Mahaska Counties.

Thorup was first elected in 2018 to the Iowa House of Representatives, serving a district made up of portions of Jasper, Marion and Lucas Counties.

Thorup is employed as an Iowa State Trooper and resides in rural Marion County. He will have to move as part of the redistricting plan approved in the Iowa Legislature to be part of the new district.

“I’d like to thank the many people that have called me, urging me to continue my service. It’s humbling, really.”

“I am proud of The Iowa Legislature’s accomplishments over the last several years, and I want to help it accomplish even more over the next several years.”
