In their first home West Central Conference doubleheader of the season, Pleasantville’s basketball squads came away with a split against Madrid.
The Trojans’ girls ran the Tigers off the court in the opening game, winning 56-26. Pleasantville led wire-to-wire and came away with their first conference win of the season. Two Trojans eclipsed double-figures in scoring as Adi Adreon had 13 while Malroie McKinney had 12. Rachel Harvey chipped in nine and Joelle Johnson had seven off the bench. With the win Pleasantville goes to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in West Central Conference play.
The Trojans’ boys lost their first game of the season, dropping to Madrid 66-58. Pleasantville lost despite Mason Scheve putting up 25 points and three steals. Dayson Leerhoff had a near double-double, scoring ten points and hauling down nine rebounds. Parker Sheets had a productive night, scoring seven points and getting three steals. With the loss, Pleasantville drops to 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in West Central Conference play.
Both teams will be back in action Friday night for another West Central Conference doubleheader at Van Meter, which will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com.
