Five school records were broken by the Simpson College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at the Pioneer Classic hosted by Grinnell over the weekend. The women’s team earned a fifth place finish with 354 team points, and the men’s team collected 13.5 team points to finish eighth. The Storm’s highest placing at the event came in the women’s 100-yard individual medley as Alyssa Harris broke her own school record set last year, while also swimming a record-breaking 100-yard butterfly that broke a record set in 2017. The women’s team broke both the 400-yard and 800-yard freestyle relay records as well as the 200-yard medley relay. The Storm next swim at Grinnell for the Grinnell Invitational on Jan. 21-22.
