With supply chain issues due to COVID-19, Congresswoman Cindy Axne says she is working on several bills in the US House of Representatives to help our transportation industry assist in helping businesses get the products they and consumers need. Axne said one of the issues she is working on is expanding interstate trucking for younger drivers.
“Young people 18-21 can’t drive interstate, they can drive from Indianola to Council Bluffs but they have to get out of the truck if they want to go into Omaha. So we’ve got to make sure we can get more truckers on the road, and creating an apprenticeship program to safely train these drivers to go interstate is one way we are going to do that.”
Axne will be featured on today’s In Depth with Dr. Bob Leonard.
