A Pella native was recently promoted in the U.S. Navy. Lt. Jon Verhoef was sworn in by U.S. Navy Lt. David Tarasi during a promotion ceremony onboard Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ). CLDJ serves as an expeditionary base for U.S. military forces providing support to ships, aircraft and personnel that ensure security throughout Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia.
