PCM’s basketball squads came away with a split at Greene County Friday night, while the wrestling squad split their triangular at Nevada.
The Mustangs’ girls came away with their second consecutive victory, knocking off the Rams 48-22. PCM continued showcasing their defensive prowess, holding an opponent to under 30 points for the second consecutive game. The Mustangs’ top scorer was Emily Foster, who knocked in ten points. Addison Steenhoek was second on the team in scoring with nine. With the win, PCM goes to 2-5 on the season with a 2-1 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
The Mustangs’ boys lost their second Heart of Iowa Conference game of the season, losing to the Rams 71-58. PCM struggled to stop Greene County’s shooting and gave up 21 points in the final quarter. With the loss, PCM drops to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
Both teams will take a break from Heart of Iowa Conference play for a non-conference doubleheader at North Mahaska Monday.
The Mustangs’ wrestling squad split their triangular at Nevada, beating the host while losing to West Marshall. PCM beat Nevada 57-21 thanks to four victories by fall, four by forfeit, and one by decision. The Mustangs lost their dual with West Marshall, 69-11. One wrestler came away with two victories Friday night, who was Nate Richards at 170 lbs. With the triangular split, PCM currently has a 2-6 dual record.
PCM will have little time to rest as they go back on the road today to Heart of Iowa Conference opponent Saydel for their second major tournament of the season. The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM.
