A Knoxville man faces felony charges after being arrested over the weekend. On Saturday, Knoxville police officers placed 21-year-old Damian Joe Bregan under arrest for multiple warrants. An officer informed Bregar that bringing contraband to the jail was a felony. Bregar allegedly stated that he did not possess contraband. A search of Bregar did not reveal anything of significance.
Upon arrival at the Marion County Jail, Bregar allegedly asked the officer to search him again “just to make sure.” The officer asked Bregar if he had any contraband on him, to which Bregar allegedly replied, “I don’t know.” Bregar then produced a clear plastic baggie that contained a white, crystalline, powdery substance, which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Bregar is charged with possession of methamphetamine, as well as possession of contraband in a correctional facility, a Class D felony. A preliminary hearing will be held December 16th.
