It was a rough night on the hardwood for PCM’s basketball squads as they were swept at 1A Powerhouse North Mahaska Monday night.

The Mustangs’ girls struggled to get anything going offensively, losing 66-28 to North Mahaska. PCM’s short winning streak came to an end at two as just six Mustangs found the scoreboard. Evelyn Burkett and Addison Steenhoek tied for the team lead in scoring with six points each. Paige Steenhoek was second on the team in scoring with five. The loss drops PCM to 2-6 on the season.

The Mustangs’ boys put forth their second-highest point total of the season, but it wasn’t enough as they lost to the Warhawks, 77-71. This is the fourth game of the season in which they have given up 70 points or more. It is also the second-highest point total surrendered by PCM this season, behind the 82 they allowed against Nevada. PCM has now lost five of their first seven games this season as they currently sit at 2-5.

Both basketball squads will be back in action for a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader tonight against Perry. Action starts with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM. The games will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
