The South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency presented several awards for their annual calendar contest at Pella Christian Grade School Monday afternoon.

Colt Kelderman won the grand prize for the annual poster project, which earned him $100, special prizes, and a $1,000 donation to the school for projects related to sustainability.

Jennifer Frampton with SCISWA says over 500 entries were submitted from 12 school districts in the region. Students were challenged to submit artwork related to the importance of recycling.

Thomas Huitink and Rowan Van Dyke of Pella Christian earned honorable mention for their artwork. All winners will be featured in the annual calendar issued by the organization.
