pleasantville-3

All winter sports teams will be in action tonight as Pleasantville’s basketball squads will take a trip to Ogden for a West Central Conference doubleheader, while the wrestling squad will have a home conference triangular.

The Trojans’ girls’ basketball squad will be looking to get back in the win column after dropping their last matchup at Van Meter Friday night. The Trojans struggled in the second half finding any rhythm offensively, scoring just 16 points in the third and fourth quarters. Pleasantville currently has a 4-3 overall record and will look for their second West Central Conference victory.

The Trojans’ boys’ basketball squad will try to break their two-game losing streak after losing to Madrid and Van Meter in the last two games. In their matchup with Van Meter, Pleasantville surrendered a season-high 85 points, including giving up 48 in the second half. The struggle for Pleasantville through the beginning of the season is finding a second scorer to go alongside Mason Scheve.

The doubleheader gets underway at Ogden with the girls’ game beginning at 6:00 PM.

The Trojans’ wrestling squad is coming off winning their first major tournament of the season at the Tri-County Invitational Saturday. Pleasantville’s dual record currently sits at 4-2 on the season through two quadrangulars at Martensdale and Sigourney. This will be the Trojans’ first triangular of the season and their first home duals of the young season. Pleasantville will go up against West Central Conference opponents ACGC and Earlham in the triangular. Coach Heath DeForest tells KNIA Sports that he has been very impressed with Trevor Daggett’s performance so far this season.

“He is doing things that we are trying to get guys that have been wrestling for a long time. He is picking up right away and he is going there and competing very well for our team. He is a guy I would give a shoutout to.”

The triangular at Pleasantville High School will begin at 5:30 PM.
