It was a great day for Pleasantville winter sports as the Trojans’ basketball and wrestling squads as everyone came away with victories Tuesday night.
The Trojans’ girls’ basketball squad got another West Central Conference victory as they knocked off Ogden, 53-28. Four players eclipsed double figures for Pleasantville, led by Malorie McKinney’s 16 points. Adi Adreon had 13 points while Rachel Harvey and Azell Smith both had ten. With the win, Pleasantville goes to 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in West Central Conference play.
The Trojans’ boys’ basketball squad capped off the doubleheader sweep of Ogden with a 68-61 victory. Pleasantville gets their second West Central Conference victory thanks to efficient shooting. Andrew Pender led the way for the Trojans with 21 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Mason Scheve was Pleasantville’s top scorer with 22 points. Dayson Leerhoff had a game-high 14 rebounds for the Trojans. Pleasantville improves to 3-2 on the season and 2-2 in the West Central Conference.
Both teams will be back in action Friday night for another West Central Conference doubleheader, which will be at home against Des Moines Christian.
The Trojans’ wrestling squad swept their triangular at home against West Central Conference foes ACGC and Earlham. Pleasantville dominated ACGC, 58-21, thanks to nine victories by fall and one by major decision. The Trojans then knocked off Earlham, 48-28, with three victories by fall and six by forfeit. With the triangular sweep, Pleasantville now improves to a 6-2 dual record, including a 2-0 dual record against conference opponents.
Pleasantville will next take the mats Saturday at 10:00 AM for the West Central Conference meet at Ogden.
